Australia’s Trusted Voice in Auctioneering and Valuation Since 1953
Established in 1953, the Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA) is the only national body representing both auctioneers and valuers—a unique, unified voice for professionals across the industry.
Driven by Integrity. Guided by Global Standards.
As a self-governing, industry-based association, the AVAA is proud to align with internationally recognised standards through affiliations with International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).
We uphold a strong governance framework, operating under a Constitution ratified by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). Every member is bound by the AVAA’s Code of Ethics.
Membership That Means Something
AVAA membership is voluntary—but it’s earned.
We offer several membership categories; Corporate, Certified Practising Auctioneer, Certified Practising Auctioneer & Valuer, Certified Practising Valuer, Associate, and Life Membership. Each category requiring that members be actively practising and meet strict eligibility criteria, including professional experience and a commitment to ongoing education.
Professional Standards You Can Trust
AVAA members are not only skilled—they’re safeguarded.
-
Professional Indemnity Insurance is mandatory for Corporate and Certified Practising members.
-
Trust Account Requirements apply to auctioneer members, who must maintain audited trust accounts and provide an Audit Certificate annually.
These safeguards help protect both members and the clients they serve, reinforcing trust and accountability.
A Commitment to Professionalism
Every AVAA member shares a dedication to the highest standards of conduct, service, and ethical practice. Whether auctioning or valuing, our members are proud to represent a profession built on trust, transparency, and excellence.
