As a member-driven organisation, the Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA), convenes the AVAA Professional Development Committee that supports the learning, growth, and future success of auctioneers and valuers. By shaping education programs, guiding major events such as the AVC Conference, and aligning training with industry needs, the Committee ensures that members have access to practical, relevant opportunities that raise professional standards.
A Member-Centric Approach —
Member voices are central to the Committee’s work. By volunteering their expertise, members help identify priority topics, create engaging content, and ensure CPD offerings remain relevant and accessible. This member-driven approach strengthens skills across the sector and ensures education delivers real value to professionals nationwide.
Committee Activity —
The AVAA Professional Development Committee drives AVAA’s education and training agenda, ensuring members are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Its work ensures education is practical, innovative, and aligned with real-world industry needs. By keeping learning relevant and future-focused, the Committee strengthens careers and raises standards across the profession. The committee is responsible for:
- Reviewing existing and developing new online courses.
- Developing workshops and seminars on new and emerging issues.
- Exploring collaborations with skills training providers, universities, or industry groups to expand learning opportunities for members.
- Guiding the direction of the AVC26 Conference and other major events.
Activities include reviewing and enhancing existing online courses, developing new programs to address emerging issues, and designing workshops and seminars that target priority learning areas. The Committee also explores partnerships with training providers, universities, and industry bodies to broaden opportunities for members. A key responsibility is guiding the direction and delivery of AVAA’s major events, including the AVC Conference.
Committee Membership —
Membership includes a Chair drawn from the AVAA Board and up to ten additional members chosen for their experience and expertise across the sector. Appointments are made for a two-year term. The Committee meets online three to four times annually, supported by the AVAA National Office. Members attending in person cover their own costs.
