The Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA) has released the four new draft AVAA Professional Standards for member and public comment, marking an important step in strengthening the professional framework that supports auctioneers and valuers across Australia.

These standards form part of AVAA’s broader commitment to advancing professionalism, integrity, and trust within the auction and valuation sector. Developed through consultation with the AVAA Membership and Professional Standards Committee, the drafts reflect contemporary expectations around professional conduct, competence, and risk management within a rapidly evolving marketplace.

The release of these draft AVAA Professional Standards is an opportunity for members and industry participants to contribute to the development of the profession’s future framework. AVAA strongly encourages auctioneers, valuers, industry stakeholders, and interested members of the public to review the documents and provide feedback. Input from practitioners is particularly valuable in ensuring that the standards are practical, balanced, and reflective of the realities of professional practice.

Comments are welcome from those holding the AVAA Certified Auctioneer (CAAu) and AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) credentials, plus stakeholders from government, the business community, and clients.  It can be made via the form below

The consultation process is designed to ensure that the final standards are informed by the experience and expertise of those working within the sector. All feedback received during the consultation period will be reviewed by the AVAA Membership and Professional Standards Committee. Following this review, the committee will consider any refinements before submitting final versions of the standards to the AVAA Board for consideration.

The standards will ultimately form part of the broader AVAA Professional Standards framework, which supports the Association’s professional credentials and promotes consistent, high-quality practice across the auction and valuation profession.

AVAA is committed to ensuring that the development of professional standards is transparent, collaborative, and member-driven. By participating in the consultation process, stakeholders can help shape a framework that supports professional excellence and strengthens confidence in the services provided by auctioneers and valuers.

Comments on the draft professional standards are invited until 10 April 2026. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the documents and provide feedback within this timeframe so their views can be considered as part of the finalisation process.
