General auctioneers operating in Tasmania are reminded that the annual licence renewal period has now opened for the 2026–2027 licensing year. The renewal process is administered by the Property Agents Board of Tasmania, which regulates auctioneers and other property-related professionals across the state.
Under the Property Agents and Land Transactions Act 2016 (Tas), individuals conducting auctions in Tasmania must hold a licence issued in the category of General Auctioneer. This licensing framework ensures that auctioneers operating within the state meet the regulatory standards required to conduct auctions lawfully and professionally.
The Board has advised that renewal notices for the upcoming licence period have been distributed via mail. Licensed auctioneers should check their email correspondence and follow the instructions provided to complete their renewal application. Maintaining a current licence is an essential requirement for those conducting auctions within Tasmania.
Auctioneers who have not received the renewal correspondence, or who require assistance with the renewal process, are encouraged to contact the Board directly. Enquiries can be directed to board@propertyagentsboard.com.au, where staff can assist with licence status, renewal instructions, or other regulatory questions.
All licence renewals must be completed by 30 April 2026. Auctioneers who fail to renew their licence by this date may be subject to late fees or other administrative consequences. Completing the renewal early helps ensure that practitioners remain authorised to conduct auctions without interruption.
For auctioneers working across multiple jurisdictions, keeping track of state-based licensing requirements remains an important part of professional compliance. The Tasmanian renewal period provides a timely reminder for practitioners to ensure their regulatory obligations are up to date as the new licensing year approaches.
AVAA’s member-driven policy advocacy complements the regulatory work of the Property Agents Board of Tasmania by ensuring that the practical experiences of auctioneers and valuers inform discussions about licensing, professional standards, and the future development of the sector.
