The 2026 Midyear Activity Report captures an important period of growth and renewal for the Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA). It reflects an Association becoming stronger, more influential and increasingly recognised for the quality of its professional standards, credentials and advocacy. This progress has been made possible by members who contribute their experience, expertise and time to advancing AVAA and the wider valuation and auction professions.

During the first half of 2026, AVAA strengthened the organisational foundations needed to support its future growth. Members approved a new Constitution and By-laws based on contemporary governance practice, while improved financial systems introduced activity-based budgeting and greater accountability for the management of members’ funds. A new integrated platform brought together membership, events, communications and online services. Member-led committees and working groups also created more structured opportunities for professional expertise to inform AVAA’s standards, policies and priorities.

The outcomes for members have been equally significant. AVAA advanced the AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) and AVAA Certified Auctioneer (CAAu) credentials., introduced verifiable digital badges, expanded the AVAA Professional Standards series, achieved a membership renewal rate exceeding 97 per cent and delivered a growing program of conferences, webinars and online education. Website traffic increased by 81 per cent, public valuation requests were distributed to members, and greater promotion of member expertise helped build recognition, referrals and commercial opportunities. These achievements reflect the practical knowledge contributed by members at every stage.

AVAA’s influence has also grown with government, the media and the wider business community. During the half year, the Association contributed to discussions concerning capital gains tax reforms, anti-money laundering obligations, small business insurance, skilled migration, working from home, counterfeit goods and firearms buyback arrangements. Ministers and other parliamentarians, government agencies and respected stakeholders are increasingly engaging with AVAA as an informed and constructive national voice. The credibility of that voice comes directly from the evidence, judgement and professional experience members provide.

The report also demonstrates that professional leadership is shared across the Association. Members have served on the AVAA Board, participated in committees and working groups, contributed to the development of the AVAA Professional Standards, responded to surveys, presented at professional development activities and helped colleagues strengthen their practice. Many have made these contributions voluntarily alongside demanding professional and business responsibilities. Their generosity keeps AVAA connected to the realities of professional practice and ensures its work remains relevant, practical and impactful.

Every member can take pride in what AVAA is becoming, this being a growing, professionally managed and nationally respected association with an important role in shaping the future of valuation and auctioneering. The progress recorded in this report belongs to the members whose participation, trust and professional commitment make the work possible. It provides a strong foundation for the next stage of AVAA’s development and an invitation for more members to help shape what comes next.
