The Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA) has recorded a renewal rate exceeding 97 per cent for 2026, reflecting strong member confidence as the organisation continues to implement its 2025–30 AVAA Strategic Plan. The result signals a highly engaged professional community and reinforces AVAA’s position as the national peak body representing auctioneers and valuers across diverse asset classes.

At the centre of this outcome is AVAA’s evolution to a certification-based model, where professional standing is anchored in the AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) and AVAA Certified Auctioneer (CAAu) credentials. This approach moves beyond simply ‘joining’ alone, focusing instead on verified technical competence, ethical practice, and alignment with recognised professional standards.

This shift is strengthening how members are recognised by clients, courts, insurers, and the government. It also supports more consistent professional outcomes across the sector, reinforcing trust in valuation and auctioneering services delivered by AVAA members holding the AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) and AVAA Certified Auctioneer (CAAu) professional credentials.

The extraordinarily high renewal rate reflects the value members place on a professional framework that is aligned with real-world expectations.

This result shows that members recognise the importance of credentials that demonstrate competence, accountability, and trust. The move to a credentials based model is strengthening both individual careers and the standing of the profession as a whole,” said Tim Slattery, AVAA National President

Alongside the introduction of credentials, AVAA has enhanced how it supports members through more targeted communications, expanded professional development, and a stronger government advocacy program informed directly by member insight. These initiatives ensure members are equipped to navigate changing market conditions, regulatory developments, and emerging risks.

The strong renewal rate also reflects a more connected membership, where collaboration and shared expertise are central to professional growth. Members are increasingly contributing to standards development, policy engagement, and knowledge sharing, reinforcing AVAA’s role as a credible and constructive voice for the sector.

As implementation of the 2025 AVAA Strategic Plan continues, AVAA remains focused on strengthening professional standards, expanding the reach of its credentials, and ensuring members are well positioned to meet the expectations of a changing commercial and regulatory environment.
