The AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) credential helps demonstrate that your professional opinion is supported by recognised standards, sound judgement and an ongoing commitment to ethical practice and continual learning.

Today’s clients, legal practitioners, accountants, insurers and government agencies are increasingly looking for more than experience. They want to engage a valuer whose expertise is backed by recognised professional credentials and accountability. Becoming an AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) allows you to distinguish yourself as a professional committed to maintaining those expectations.

Experienced valuers who meet the eligibility requirements can apply directly for certification. Those developing their careers can begin with AVAA Associate Membership, which provides access to education, professional networks, and practical support while working towards the respected AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) designation.

If you’ve been working as a professional valuer for at least five years, you may be eligible to apply directly for the respected AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) credential. Certification formally recognises your expertise and demonstrates your commitment to professional excellence, ethical conduct and continuing development.

As outlined in the application guide, to apply directly for the AVAA Certified Auctioneer (CAAu) credential you must be actively practising as a valuer, have at least five years’ professional experience, hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance, and commit to complying with the AVAA Professional Standards as part of your ongoing professional responsibilities.

If you don’t yet meet the requirements for certification, AVAA Associate Membership is designed for auctioneers with some experience, or those looking to enter the profession. Access education, industry connections and professional guidance while working towards the certified valuer credential.  Once you’ve been an AVAA Associate Member and conducted valuations and auctions in accordance with the AVAA Professional Standards, you can apply for certification as a valuer.

When applying for AVAA Associate Membership, you may undertake one of  the two foundation courses in general valuation or fine arts and antiques valuation that provides valuable knowledge on professional approaches to these asset classes.
