The Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA) has been nominated for the 2026 Association of the Year Award, recognising the collective contribution of the members who give AVAA its strength, expertise and purpose. The nomination celebrates the certified valuers and auctioneers who share their experience, support their colleagues and help shape the Association’s direction, including those who volunteer on the AVAA Board, committees and working groups or contribute to professional development and policy advocacy activities. The nomination is an achievement shared across the entire AVAA membership.
The Association of the Year Award recognises organisations that demonstrate strong leadership, sound governance, meaningful member engagement and a clear contribution to the communities and professions they serve. For AVAA, the nomination represents independent recognition of the progress made in strengthening Australia’s valuation and auctioneering professions while remaining firmly focused on the needs and priorities of members.
Over the past year, AVAA has continued its evolution from a traditional membership organisation into a contemporary national professional certification body. Central to this work are the respected AVAA Certified Valuer (CVAu) and AVAA Certified Auctioneer (CAAu) credentials, which recognise practitioners who meet defined requirements for experience, competence, insurance, continuing professional development and professional accountability.

Through parliamentary submissions, regulatory engagement, research, and direct consultation, AVAA ensures that the experience of valuers and auctioneers informs national, state, and territory policy discussions. Its advocacy has addressed capital gains tax reform, consumer protection, anti-money laundering requirements, insurance, skilled migration, workplace regulation and other issues with direct consequences for members and their clients.
Most importantly, this nomination recognises AVAA as a genuinely member-driven association. Directors serving on the AVAA Board provide the strategic direction, stewardship and governance needed to guide the Association. Members serving on the AVAA national committees and working group members contribute practical expertise to professional standards, policy positions and member initiatives. Members also generously support professional development programs as speakers, panellists, facilitators, course reviewers and advisers.
